Raised in Osaka, Japan, Akiko Tsuruga had many opportunities to perform with world- renowned jazz musicians from the United States, like Frank Wess, Jimmy Cobb, Grady Tate or Lou Donaldson. Organ legend Dr. Lonnie Smith became an important mentor to Akiko, and she considers him her greatest influence. After playing in Marians with Jeff Hamilton and Graham Dechter, Akiko now brings along her NY quartet for the first time.
